Superman Board Games

Superman was created in 1938 and has become the prototypical superhero. Superman is immensely popular, and his iconic blue and red costume is recognized all over the world. He has been featured in comics, films, radio shows and cartoons. The character has also been used in a number of board games, many of which have gone on to become collector's items.
  1. Film Tie-ins

    • Superman has starred in several films over the years, the most recent of which was Superman Returns in 2006. Each of these films has spawned board games such as Superman Returns - Kryptonite Crisis. In this game, players move along a 3-D board in an attempt to reach the top and defeat Lex Luthor. Players select cards with various actions they must undertake and try to avoid kryptonite boulders as they role down the board.

    Cartoon Tie-ins

    • Superman has been featured in a number of cartoons both on his own and as a member of DC's superhero team, the Justice League. Justice League Make a Match is a memory game with cartoon depictions of Justice League characters such as Superman printed on them. Players locate and collect matching cards. The winning player is the one who has the most pairs at the end of the game.

    Licensed Games

    • The Superman franchise has been licensed to several preexisting products such as Monopoly. Superman Returns Monopoly follows the standard format of buying and developing properties, but all properties and game tokens reflect moments from the film Superman Returns. Superman Returns Monopoly also features quick play rules, drastically cutting down on the amount of time required to play a game. Like the original version of Monopoly, this game supports two to six players.

    Out-of-Print Board Games

    • Several Superman board games have gone out of print over the years, but a large collector's market for these games still exists. The Adventures of Superman is one of the oldest Superman board games and was produced by Milton Bradley in 1940. The object of the game is to change Clark Kent to Superman by being the first player to navigate the Clark Kent token to the editorial room of the Daily Planet.
