Instructions for Parker Brothers' The A-Team

"The A-Team," which ran for five seasons on NBC in the 1980s, was also the theme for a Parker Brothers board game in 1984. The object is for one of the four players to invade a heavily guarded fortress and capture a stolen soft drink formula. An oddity to the game is the most recognizable star, Mr. T, is not one of the playable characters. He is pictured on the game board. If you land on a Mr. T space, you get to roll again.

Instructions

  1. Set up

    • 1

      Place the secret formula card on "The Vault" space in the center of the game board. Each player must choose to play as either Faceman, Hannibal, Murdock or Amy Allen. Roll the dice and let the highest roller go first.

      Shuffle the 35 action cards and deal three cards to each player. Set the rest of the cards face down by the side of the board to form the draw pile.

      Place all the character cards into a plastic bases and set them on the "Start" space. Each player takes a turn by rolling one die. Play proceeds to the left.

    Play

    • 4

      Roll one die and move your piece on the game board. Follow the instructions written on the space where you land. During each turn, a player may also play an "action" card.

      Play one action card at any time during your turn if you choose to. The cards are self-explanatory and help you move ahead in the game. Place a used action card face down by the draw pile and pick up a new one.

      Roll both dice if you land on a "Guard" space. The red die is the guard and the green die is you. If the guard wins the roll, the player stays put. If the player wins, he moves out of the guard space and as many spaces ahead as the difference between the dice. For example, if the green die is a "6" and the red die is a "4," the player moves two spaces ahead.

      Battle another player when you land on the same space as he by taking turns rolling one die. The highest roller moves ahead by the difference of the dice. Players must have dice fights if they land on "Narrow Passageways" or "T.V. Monitor."

      Play an action card or choose a bonus roll if you land on a "Roll Again" space. Landing on a "Safety Zone" space means a player is safe from all other players.

    Winning

    • 9

      Enter "The Vault" space by any roll of the die that gets you in, even if you over-shoot it. The first player to reach "The Vault" tucks the secret formula card into his character's plastic base and begins his escape.

    • 10

      Fight your way out of the fortress by avoiding other players, who now may battle you for the secret formula with a roll of the die if you both land on the same space. The high roller gets the secret formula.

    • 11

      Get back to the "Start" space with the secret formula before any other player to win the game.
