Directions for the Game MindTrap

"MindTrap" is a lateral-thinking puzzle game for two people or teams. It features cards with questions that require extensive thought to answer correctly. To help players, there is no time limit. The object of the game is to answer questions correctly to progress along the scoring track, which is rendered as an optical illusion. Because of its difficult questions, "MindTrap" is recommended for adults or advanced teenagers.

Instructions

    • 1

Divide the players into two teams. Determine what path on the scoring track each team will follow: the light or dark path. Decide whether to use the longer or shorter game options.

    • 2

Select a card from the pack, if you are on Team 1. Read the question to Team 2. Read the answer on the back of the card. Make sure you understand the answer before Team 2 attempts to answer the question.

    • 3

Read the question again, if you are on Team 2. Brainstorm with your team to determine the correct answer.

    • 4

Fill in one space on the game track if your answer is correct and wait for another question. Alternatively, you may roll a four-sided dice (bearing the numbers 0, 1, 2 and 3) and fill in the corresponding value on the track. If you choose to roll the dice, your turn is finished.

    • 5

Guess the answer if you are on Team 1 and Team 2 answered incorrectly. Everyone on the team except the reader of the question can attempt to answer the question. Jot down ideas to organize your thoughts.

    • 6

Fill in one space on the game track if your team answers correctly.

    • 7

Read the next question to Team 1 if you are in Team 2.

    • 8

Watch for Inquiry Cards, which have a diamond next to the question. If an Inquiry Card turns up, the team answering the question may ask a single question of the player who read the card. The reader can give only one of three answers: "yes," "no" or "irrelevant." If your team answers the question incorrectly, the opposing team can try to answer it; however, that team cannot ask a question.

    • 9

Win the game by being the first team to complete the game track.
