Fun Games for Couples at Home

If you want a change from your routine of watching the Weather Channel or the latest Sandra Bullock romcom, spend an evening with your significant other playing games for two or invite another couple for a fun foursome. Games at home can be an affordable, relaxing way to spend an evening or rainy afternoon. Playing a game with your spouse can even lead to increased intimacy.
  1. Board Games

    • Board games require at least two people and come with equipment, such as a playing board, playing pieces, dice, timer or other necessary tools. Some people enjoy games that focus on creativity while others enjoy games of strategy and skill. Games that elicit laughter include dice games like Farkle or Liar's Dice; board games like Pictionary or Tobago; and word games like Boggle and Scrabble. Strategy games encourage players to compete against each other and can be risky unless you are both playing to have fun rather than to win at all costs. Dominion, Risk and Monopoly are engaging strategy games that can be played by two or more players, while classic games like chess and backgammon have been played by couples for centuries.

    Card Games

    • Card games are portable and affordable. Games for two include gin rummy, canasta, poker and war. Speed is a fast-paced game that gets your adrenaline going, while two-player solitaire lets you both work together to win. You can play most card games individually or, if you have more than one couple, as teams.

    Parlor Games

    • You can play games as a couple without so much as a pencil. Twenty questions is a classic guessing game where one person tries to guess what animal, vegetable, or mineral the other is thinking of by asking up to 20 questions that can only be answered with a "yes" or a "no."

Another fun guessing game starts with one person stating that he is thinking of a person and giving their initials. The other person must think of someone with those initials, but asks a question about that person without stating their name. The first person must answer with either "No, it is not [person's name]," or "Yes. It is [person's name]." For instance, player one thinks of Marilyn Monroe and says he is thinking of a person with the initials "MM." The second person might say, "Is this a famous rodent?" The first person might say, "No. It is not Mickey Mouse." If he can't think of a famous rodent with the initials of MM, he loses.

    Sex Games

    • You can find several types of games that will add some spice to your sex life. In strip poker, the person with the losing hand must remove one article of clothing. In the board game An Enchanted Evening, players draw cards that encourage intimacy and playful touching.
