Instructions
Play Beyond Balderdash with two or more players over 10 years of age. Set out the board and let each player select a token playing piece and put it on the 'Start' block. Each player rolls the die. The person with the highest number begins. He is the "Dasher."
Hand out a writing pad and pencil to each player. The Dasher takes a card from the pack and chooses a category. For Words, each player must make up a definition and write it on the pad. For the People category, each player must make up a story about what the person is famous for. For Initials, each player makes up a definition of what the initials stand for. For the Movies category, each player invents a plot and for the Dates category, each player writes what happened on that day in history.
Wait until all the players are finished writing. During this time, the Dasher will write down the correct definition from the card. The Dasher collects everyone's paper and ensures that all players have written their name on the top. The Dasher will record the scores on the papers.
Listen as the Dasher reads out the definitions. The Dasher should take care not to fumble or reveal who has written the definition. The Dasher must also muddle up the papers so that the authors remain anonymous. The Dasher will read the definitions twice, or three times if necessary. Each player votes for the definition she thinks is the real one.
Move forward by one space if someone chose your definition. If you chose the correct definition, move forward two spaces. The Dasher moves forward by three spaces if no one guesses the correct answer. If a player has written the correct definition of the category, they move forward by three spaces. That definition is not read out with the others, but is set aside by the Dasher. If more than one person gets the right definition, the round is canceled, but each person with the correct definition is awarded three points. If you land on the "Double Score" space, you will score double in the next round.
Select the player to the left of the Dasher to be the next Dasher and continue to play until one player reaches the 'Finish' block. The player to the left of the Dasher moves his piece first, followed by the others, moving in a clockwise direction. This will avoid a tie.
