Monopoly Here & Now Tips

Monopoly hit the market in 1935, and since that time, many variations of the game have been created. Monopoly Here &Now differs from the original Monopoly in that properties on the board are modern, including Texas Stadium and the White House, and prices are higher to reflect inflation. There are some tips to be aware of if you want to win a game of Monopoly Here &Now.

Houses/Hotels
- You accumulate wealth in Monopoly Here &Now by purchasing properties and building houses and hotels, then collecting rent when other players land on these spaces. While many people will focus on getting hotels as soon as possible, one tip is to buy up all the houses and forgo hotels. There are a limited number of houses, so purchasing them will prevent opponents from acquiring them.
Differences
- While Monopoly Here &Now features the same gameplay as traditional Monopoly, you should note some differences to ensure efficient strategy. The Income Tax space no longer provides an option to take a percentage of your wealth and instead takes a flat sum of $2 million. Additionally, railroads have been replaced by airports. The Here &Now version offers electronic counting of money to keep you abreast of your wealth total.
Mortgaging
- Toward the end of the game, you may have to get rid of property to stay alive. It is better to mortgage a minor property first as opposed to property that has been adorned with houses and hotels. This gives you a better chance to continue making a profit.
