Defenders of the Realm
"Defenders Of The Realm" is a strategy game played out over a large board, illustrated to depict a fantasy land. Between one and four players team up in this game, with each assuming the role of a heroic character, such as a ranger, eagle rider or paladin. Players must cooperate and forge successful tactics to prevent a host of evil creatures entering Monarch City. Players move their pieces across the board to thwart the efforts of the various factions which stand against them; these evil factions, meanwhile, control monsters such as dragons and demons. As the players defeat each faction, the game increases in difficulty and the enemy gets closer to Monarch City.
Dungeons &Dragons Basic Game
This board game is based on the 3.5 rules edition of the enduring "Dungeons &Dragons" game. "Dungeons &Dragons" itself has been around since 1975 and is one of the most famous pen-and-paper role-playing games in the world. Players take on the role of mighty heroes, such as wizards and knights, and explore danger-filled locations in scenarios controlled by the game's referee, the so-called "Dungeon Master." This "Basic" version of the game aims to introduce players to the rules in an easy-to-understand manner, turning "Dungeons &Dragons" into more of a board game in the process. The game comes complete with cardboard tiles to represent the dungeon and painted miniatures that depict fantasy creatures.
Dragon's Gold
This board game, published by the French company Descartes Editeur, is designed for three to six players. The game places players in charge of a team of dragon hunters. However, "Dragon's Gold" puts a spin on classic fantasy board games; while the players must kill a dragon to gain access to his hoard of gold and magical artifacts, the real challenge of this game is trying to determine which players make off with which pieces of treasure before time --- represented by a sand timer --- runs out. At the end of the game, the winner is declared based on the kind of treasure each player has ended up with.
Drakon
This fantasy board game, intended for up to six players, is set within a dragon's lair. The players take on the mantle of a bunch of captured adventurers, who are tasked by a dragon, Drakon, to enter her trap-filled chambers and find 10 pieces of gold, with the prize being release from captivity. The game is played out over illustrated floor tiles and with a variety of plastic figures representing the characters.
