Law and Order Board Game Instructions

The "Law and Order" series is among the longest-running serial crime dramas on TV and has a number of spin-offs. Like the TV show, the board game based on "Law and Order" focuses on solving crimes fairly and justly. The game plays a little bit like "Clue," but with more elements of random chance. You will have to use your deductive reasoning and skills to build a case and catch the bad guys before your opposing players do.

Instructions

  1. Set Up

    • 1

Lay out the board and stand the pieces at the "Start" space.

    • 2

Shuffle the "Evidence," "Location," and "Weapon" cards, and place them on their respective spaces in the "Crime Scene" space on the board.

    • 3

Place the four "Scales of Justice" cards face-down on the space in the center of the board.

    • 4

Pass a notebook to each player.

    Game play

    • 5

Roll the dice, and pass to the next player. The player who rolls the highest number goes first.

    • 6

Shuffle the Scene of the Crime cards. Each player must choose one card and a pawn to represent you as detectives. When each player has chosen a card and a pawn, place the remaining pawn in the "Suspect" circle.

    • 7

Roll the dice and move the number of spaces indicated. If you land on a colored space, draw a card of the matching color. If you're on a black space, follow the instructions on the space.

    • 8

Draw a card and read its description to "interview" suspects and witnesses. If the card fits your case, keep it. Otherwise, discard it into the "27th Precinct" space. You can only have one of each type of card in your hand at any time.

    • 9

Dive into the "dumpsters," when you land on a "27th Precinct" tile. Pick up one of the piles and root through it to find a card you need. Return the other cards to the pile.

    • 10

Repeat the procedure until one player is ready to make a case.

    • 11

Solve the case when you have assembled enough information. You must land on the same square as the suspect to make an accusation. Have another player pick up your corresponding Scales of Justice card and read it, then compare it to your evidence. If you are correct, you win. If you are not, the Justice card goes back to the pile and play continues.
