Instructions
Place the sea-serpents on the five spaces on the game board with a sea-serpent symbol. Shuffle the 40 land pieces and place them face down onto the spaces in the middle section of the game board within the heavy black outline.
Select a set of 10 people tokens and take two boat tokens. The first player places one people token on any land piece that he wishes. Each player, rotating clockwise, places an additional people token until all the tokens are on the island. Repeat the process with the boat tokens except that they must be placed on water.
Complete the first of three actions that comprise a turn. First, move your player tokens and/or boat tokens up to three total spaces. More than one token may be moved as long as the combined spaces do not exceed three. People tokens which are in the water may only be moved one space per turn.
Sink a land piece. Remove a land piece from the island and examine its' underside. If the piece has a shark, whale or boat symbol, place the appropriate token on that sea-space. If the piece has a whirlpool symbol, remove all tokens from that sea-space and all sea-spaces adjacent to that space. If the piece has text, save the piece for later use. All text pieces may only be used at the beginning of the turn except for the "Kill a Shark" and "Harpoon a Whale" pieces. If a volcano is revealed then the game immediately ends and the player with the most points wins. Points are determined by the total value on the bottom of player pieces that have made it to safety.
Roll the die. If a sea-serpent is rolled, move a sea-serpent one space. Any player tokens or occupied boats on a sea-space with a sea-serpent are destroyed. If a shark is rolled, move one shark token up to two spaces. Any player tokens on a sea-space with a shark are destroyed. If a whale is rolled, move one whale token up to three spaces. Any occupied boat tokens on the same space as a whale are destroyed and the player tokens are placed into the water.
