Things You'll Need
Instructions
Game Setup
Open the Battleship unit and carefully apply the included "BATTLESHIP" labels to each side.
Open the peg storage compartments and apply the "PLAYER 1" and "PLAYER 2" labels. Make sure the "PLAYER 1" label is placed on the same side of the unit as the "On/Off" switch.
Open the battery panel on the underside of the unit. You will need to use a screwdriver to loosen the screw securing the panel. Insert three AA batteries according to the positive and negative markings, and then close the panel.
Separate the ships and planes from the plastic frames. Divide the plastic pegs so that each side has 100 white pegs, 50 red pegs, 25 blue pegs, one red plane and one blue plane.
Place the pegs into each player's peg compartment. You can now begin the game.
Deployment
Turn the unit on using the "On/Off" switch.
Press the "2" button to select a two-person game when prompted.
Select which mission you wish to play when the unit says "Input Game Option." Press "1" to select "Classic Mission." This game mode is the most similar to the original "Battleship" game.
Choose between "Custom Configuration" and "Auto Configuration" using the number pad. Custom Configuration allows you to place your fleet in any way you choose, while Auto will provide you with predetermined formations.
Follow the voice prompts from the game. When you hear "Aircraft Carrier Reporting," place your aircraft carrier on the map. Enter its coordinates on the keypad, letter first. You only need to mark the end points of the carrier; for instance, a horizontally-placed carrier would require only the coordinates "A1" and "A5." Press "Fire/Enter" to confirm, then repeat this process with each of your ships.
Allow Player 2 to deploy their fleet. When Player 1 has finished with deployment, the game will say "Enter Fleet Configuration, Player 2." Player 2 will then need to choose between Custom and Auto configuration and lay out their fleet , following the same steps as Player 1.
Gameplay
Listen for the cue "Awaiting Orders from Player 1." This means the game has begun.
Insert a white peg into a slot on the upper target grid.
Enter the coordinates of this peg on the keypad. For instance, "A1." Press "Enter/Fire" to confirm.
Listen to the game's cues on whether you missed or hit. If you hit an enemy ship, the game will announce "Radar Confirms Hit!" Replace the white peg with a red one if this occurs. The game will announce "Awaiting Orders from Player 2," meaning your turn is over.
Repeat this process until all of the ships in a player's fleet have been sunk.
