Learn as many two-letter words as you can. This will give you a clear advantage in Scrabble games. According to Hasbro, the manufacturers of Scrabble, a person who dedicates their time to learn these words has a chance to increase their score by 50 points.
Purchase a Scrabble dictionary from a local bookstore if you need extra help learning the words. The dictionary will include possible word combinations to use throughout the game. Dictionaries usually include between 120 to 130 two-letter words.
Learn three-letter Scrabble words by adding one letter either before or after a two-letter Scrabble word. The burden of learning three-letter words is easier to learn since most of these words are simply the plural form of two-letter words.
Shuffle your tiles to test out any possible word combinations. You are likely to visualize other words by keeping your tiles non-stagnant.
Pre-empt your next move by thinking ahead. If you set down your tiles for a particular word, make sure you have enough tiles to make the next word. Consequently, do not use all your vowels in one word when saving one those vowels can serve as a backup for your next word.
Play your power tiles on a multiplier. Multipliers are certain squares on the Scrabble board that allow a word score to be multiplied by two or three. Playing power tiles in this way will assure that you make the most value out of it, earning you more points. Power tiles include J, K, Q, X and Z.
Score a scrabble bingo as often as you can. A scrabble bingo occurs when a player uses all seven tiles on his rack, earning him the value of the tiles plus 50 extra points. This will ensure that you accumulate as many buttons as you can. Tournament players use this strategy when competing, saving blank tiles in hopes of earning a scrabble bingo.
