Differences
Life Preserver cards replace Chance cards and Treasure Chest cards replace Community Chest cards. Instead of the properties in the original game, the Spongebob game properties come from his Bikini Bottom home.
Similarities
The rules are the same as in classic Monopoly. The banker hands out the money and rolls first, goes the amount the dice says and makes his play according to where he lands. To win the game, a player have to own and build on enough properties to bankrupt the other players.
Additions
A "Plankton's Rule" option provides a plankton piece that advances a spot every time a player rolls a one. When the plankton travels the whole board, he is considered to have put the "Kristy Krab" out of business and the game is over.
In short play, which takes 60 to 90 minutes, players get three properties at random, free of charge. Property building happens faster, players only stay in jail one turn and the game ends when only one player goes bankrupt. There are minor differences from the original game's short play version. In that game, players must pay for the properties they get at the start.
