Instructions for How to Play the Hall of Hogwarts Harry Potter Game

Harry Potter's "Halls of Hogwarts Game" has players traveling the halls until they visit all of their classes in the order they appear on their class schedule. The first one to do so and get back to the starting location wins the game. But players need to watch out for the moving staircases, trick doors, and secret passages. Players must also flip over classroom tiles for directions, while also playing event cards. Event cards can order the player to make a move, like switch positions with another player, that can immediately alter the game.

Instructions

    • 1

Set up the blank game board, mix the tiles and place them facedown on the empty squares in the board game. Each player receives one class schedule, one student portrait and two hat mover player pieces. Put one hat mover beside the class schedule and the other on the starting area, as indicated by the back of the student portrait. Deal four events cards to each player, and set the rest of the pack aside to draw from.

    • 2

Roll the die and move tiles. Either flip or rotate the number of tiles indicated on the die. Turn the tile face up to flip it. To rotate, angle the tile so its hallways, doorways, or stairways point the direction you wish to travel, then put it back on its square.

    • 3

Move through the halls as far as you want until the path is blocked. The player may not move backwards. The player may move to a classroom tile.

    • 4

Move the hat mover to the matching symbol on the class schedule to enter a classroom tile.

    • 5

Play an event card as an option during the player's turn. Show the card to the other players and perform the task on the card. There are 13 different event cards. Once played, put the event card at the bottom of the draw pile. Pick up another event card when the hat mover reaches a tile with a star.
