Picture Search Games

Picture search games are found everywhere. They are in the local newspapers, normally in the comic section. There are picture search books, CDs, DVDs and board games. The ones in the newspapers are normally the "what is different" type where you find the differences between two pictures, but there are so many options you can likely find one to suit you.
  1. Pictureka!

    • The object is to collect cards by finding objects on the game board. The first player to collect six cards wins. Play varies depending on the card drawn. If a green card is chosen only that player searches for the images. Everyone searches for the images if a blue card is drawn. The rules provide alternatives for a longer or a shorter game as well as a game for younger players. "Pictureka!" is for players ages 6 and up.

    ISpy

    • "ISpy" versions can be found in books, video games, DVDs, puzzles and board games. The object is to find various items within the big picture. For example, in the ISpy 123, you could search for a muffin pan or sunglasses.

    Hidden Expedition Titanic

    • Players have to search different areas of the ship for 10 items plus five jewels before a timer runs out. The screens are different each time you play. Hidden Expedition also explores the Arctic, the Everest and Devil's Triangle. They are four separate games. No age group is listed but it is perfect for older elementary school or middle school children. Younger children can do the search if a parent or sibling reads the search list to them.

Dark Tales: Edgar Allan Poe's The Black Cat

    • Follow a mysterious black cat around as you and the Inspector search clues and hidden objects for the missing Sara. The various screens will list key objects to find. The game ends with a movie and an option for extra screens. No age group is listed but it is suitable for older elementary school or middle school children.

The Official Home of Where's Waldo

    • "Where's Waldo" first became famous as a picture search book in 1987. "Where's Waldo" now encompasses books, online games, a comic strip and video games. The idea is to pick out Waldo from a sea of people in multiple locations. "Waldo" in any form is suitable for children.

    Girlsgogames

    • There are more than 50 free picture search games geared at young girls on this site. The games range from "Spot the Difference" to "Animals at Risk" to "Shopping." Girls must be at least 8 to open an account on the site.

    Herod's Lost Tomb Online

    • This online game has more than 1,000 objects to look for over its 15 settings and five mini-games. It is based on a National Geographic special on King Herod of Judea. Unlike the Hidden Exploration games, these screens do not refresh for different plays. In other words the pictures you're looking for remain stagnant. A very young child could easily do the search if a parent or older sibling reads the search list to him.
