Game Rules for the Ready Steady Cook Board Game

"Ready Steady Cook" has been a popular staple of the BBC since 1994. Competing chefs are kept to a small, tight budget and both have 20 minutes to complete their dishes. The "Ready Steady Cook" board game was released in 1998 and is no longer readily available.
  1. Objective

    • Contestants in this board game must begin in the backstage dressing room, go through the "Ready Steady Cook" studio, go past assorted "Countdown squares" and reach the "Stop Cooking" sign to win.

    Rules

    • Players must navigate along the board by answering a series of trivia questions and/or must complete a food-related activity within 60 seconds. Answering a question incorrectly or failing to complete the activity within 60 seconds will send the player back on the board, while answering a question correctly or completing the activity in time will advance the player further towards the "Stop Cooking" goal.

    Categories of Trivia Questions

    • The type of question asked or task performed depends on where the player lands on the board after rolling the dice. Categories include:

Pot Luck: Advance, go backwards, lose or gain a turn based on the pronouncement on the card.

TV Trivia: Questions based on food advertisements and popular food programs.

Time Trial: Complete a food related activity within 60 seconds.

Fern's Fun Facts and Chef's Challenge: Questions related to the player's knowledge of food.
