How to Play Trivial Pursuit 25th Anniversary

The Trivial Pursuit 25th Anniversary edition was released in 2008 to celebrate the original version that hit store shelves in 1983. This version is played like any other Trivial Pursuit game but has two key differences. This version of the game offers players a chance to play on a "Bonus Track," which lets them use different strategies to try and win the game. The difficulty of questions is determined by the roll of the die.

Instructions

  1. The Game Basics

    • 1

Unwrap each deck of cards and place them into the corresponding color wedge holder.

    • 2

Have each player take a scoring token and place it in the center of the game board. Then have each player take a corresponding colored tracking token and move it to the Start space on the Bonus Track.

    • 3

On your turn, roll the die and move that number of spaces. From the center, move along any of the spokes to the outer board. Once you get to the outer board, you can move in any direction you want. If you roll a six, you have to move six spaces in one direction.

    • 4

Answer a question that corresponds with the color of the space on which you landed. For example, if you landed on the color blue, you will be asked to answer a geography question. If you roll a one or two, you get to answer an easy question. If you roll a three or a four, it will be a medium-difficulty question. If you roll a five or a six, the question you'll be answering will be hard question.

    • 5

Answer the question correctly and you get to roll the die again. You also get to move your tracking token.

    • 6

Move your tracking token around the Bonus Track the number of spaces indicated by whether the question you answered was easy, medium or hard. Move the tracking token clockwise along the Bonus Track, one space if you answered an easy question correctly, two spaces for a medium question and three spaces for a hard question.

    • 7

Answer a question correctly on a colored wedge space and you get that colored wedge indicated by the game board. You also get to move your tracking token in the same manner as the step above.

    • 8

Answer a question incorrectly and you lose your turn. The player on the left of you gets to roll the die.

    • 9

Land on a Roll Again space and roll again.

    • 10

Win the game by filling up your scoring token with each colored wedge. Then move to the center of the game board where you started. You have to land on the center exactly. The other players will decide what category of question to ask you when you land on the space. Correctly answer the question and you win. Incorrectly answer the question and you must move out of the center and try again by landing exactly on the center space. Again, the number on the die will indicated the difficulty of the question that is asked.

    Bonus Track

    • 11

Move the tracking token around the Bonus Track for every question you get right. There are four zones in the bonus track: Face-Off, Slow It Down, Easy Cheesy and Freebie.

    • 12

Land the tracking token in the Face-Off zone and you can declare a face-off against any opposing player. Pick a wedge color and have a non-involved player read the question out loud. The first player to answer the question correctly gets the corresponding wedge color. If nobody gets the answer right, nobody wins the wedge. A player may only use this once while in the zone.

    • 13

Move the tracking token into the Slow It Down zone and that player may move another player's scoring token anywhere on the board. This may only be done once while you're in the zone.

    • 14

Land the tracking token into the Easy Cheesy Zone and you'll have the opportunity to answer an easy question when it's your turn, no matter what number you rolled on the die. So if you rolled a six, you can answer an easy question instead. This may also only be used once when you're in the zone.

    • 15

Move the tracking token into or past the Freebie Zone. You can then pick a wedge of your choice and place it in your scoring token.
