How to Make a Large Sequence Game

Sequence is a board game that can be played by two players or up to three teams. You can have as many as four players on a team, so feasibly you could play with 12 players. When playing with a large group, it is helpful to have a larger playing board than the one that comes with the game. Making such a board is not difficult and is worth the time if you play the game frequently with friends.

Instructions

  1. Make the Board

    • 1

Cut a piece of plywood into an 18-inch square.

    • 2

Sand the edges smooth to prevent splintering.

    • 3

Paint or stain the plywood in the color of your choice. Allow it to dry thoroughly.

    • 4

Draw a line around the edge of the board 3/4 inch in from the outside edge to begin card placement.

    Arranging the Cards

    • 5

Cut the cards from two decks of playing cards into 1 1/2-inch squares making sure to leave the top left-hand corner intact. Include the jokers. Leave out all of the jacks.

    • 6

Place the cards on the board before gluing them down to be sure of their positioning. Leave a 1/8-inch space between cards. Arrange cards facing the same direction.

    • 7

Place a Joker in each of the four corners. Arrange the remaining cards creating 10 rows with 10 cards each. Use the arrangement found on a Sequence game board if you have one or create your own order.

    Finishing

    • 8

Attach cards in position using double-sided tape.

    • 9

Cover the board with clear adhesive shelf paper. Wrap the adhesive sheet to the back of the board.

    • 10

Secure the adhesive sheet to the back with clear packaging tape. Add packaging tape along the side edges if it is not wide enough to wrap around the sides of the board.
