Blokus Trigon Tips

Blokus is a game played on a board with a limited amount of spaces. Players get pieces that they must place on the board. Unlike traditional Blokus, Blokus Trigon is played on a hexagonal board. Its playing space is divided up into triangles rather than squares which gives an interesting twist to the game. The game can be played with two to four players and does have a certain amount of strategy involved.
  1. Spread Out

    • When playing Blokus Trigon try and spread out your pieces as much as possible. This will give you more of an area to play. If you’re pieces are cramped in the corner, you won’t have much chance to move other places. Play off other people and try and integrate their space. Also, try and cover as much of the board as possible without leaving too many holes. This will again, give you more free space to move around.

    Bigger Pieces

    • Each person gets more six-piece pieces than any of the other pieces. Try and use these first to get them out of the way. There’s only so much room on the board, and near the end of the game there may not be room for your bigger pieces. At the end of the game, whichever player has the least amount of pieces wins. So, if a player has a six-piece, five-piece and a three-piece, that player ends up with 14 points at the end of the game.

    Think Ahead

    • Always try and think about what another player might put down. See what pieces each player has and move your piece accordingly. This can include blocking other players or taking away an opportunity for a move they might use on their next turn. If you’ve blocked players from an area completely, see what types of empty spaces there are in this area. Then, after all your other options have been exhausted, use your remaining pieces in this protected area.
