Games to Play That Require No Skill

Games are an amusing way to pass the hours while you&'re stuck inside during a snowstorm or just spending time with a group of friends. Sometimes, difficult games are tough to enjoy because of the intense skill, concentration and practice they require. This may be frustrating if you just want to play a game for relaxation. Fortunately, there are a variety of games that rely solely on guesswork and luck and require no skill from the players.
  1. Apples to Apples

    • Apples to Apples is a card game for four to 10 players. Games usually last half an hour or less and are casual and amusing. Each player has a hand of seven cards dealt by a judge. The judge rotates each round. At the beginning of a round, the judge draws a green card and lays it face up. This green card holds a word or phrase, such as "my love life" or "best feature." Each player chooses a red card from their hand that best describes the judge&'s green card. The judge chooses his favorite card or the card he feels is the best. That player is the winner for the round and keeps the judge&'s green card. The first player to reach a predetermined number of green cards is the winner.

    Sorry

    • Sorry is a game in which players move a set of four pawns across a board. Each player selects a color pawn he wants to play, such as blue or green. Players draw number cards to move their pawns across the playing board. A player must draw a number one or number two card to bring a pawn into play. Pawns may be sent back to their home square by other players who draw "sorry" cards. The first person to get all four pawns to the "home" zone wins the game.

    Go Fish

    • Go Fish is a card game for up to five players. The dealer gives each player seven cards. You may use a special Go Fish deck, but any card deck will suffice. The goal of the game is to get as many matching pairs of cards as possible. Each player takes turns asking other players if they have a certain card. If the asked player has the card, he must surrender it to the asker, who then receives another turn. If the player does not have the card, the asker&'s turn ends and the next player&'s turn begins. The game continues until all cards have been played. The person with the most pairs of cards wins.

    Twister

    • Twister is a physical game that employs a spinner and a large floor mat with a series of colored circles. (See Reference 4.) One person must manage the spinner, which dictates what color circle each player must place his hand or foot on. Once each player has the required extremity on the circle, the spinner is spun again. The game continues until a player falls down. That player is "out" of the game. The last player to remain standing is the winner.
