Classic Wahoo
Each player selects a set of colored pieces and places their pieces on the starting arrow of the same color. The first player is determined by a roll of the dice.
On his turn, a player rolls the dice. On a roll of one or six, the player may remove a piece from his starting arrow and place it on his color’s starting position on the path. When a player has pieces on the path, he moves them the exact number of spaces indicated by the dice. Pieces always move clockwise around the board, and players may only move one piece per roll.
If a player rolls a six, after moving one of his pieces, he may roll again and move another piece. The player may continue to roll and move pieces until he does not roll a six.
Players may jump over any piece on the path. If a player's piece lands in a space occupied by an opponent’s piece, the opponent’s piece is moved back to the opponent's starting arrow. Players may not bump their own pieces back to the starting arrow; if a player cannot move any of his pieces after rolling the dice, his turn is forfeited.
The first player to successfully move all of his pieces from his starting arrow into his tepee wins.
Shortcut Variation
A center space at the center of the Wahoo board serves as a shortcut. The shortcut is used by moving a piece from the inner corners of the path to the center space on an exact roll. Once a piece occupies the center space, it can only leave when the player rolls a one or a six. When a player rolls a one or a six, he may place the piece on the center space onto the inside corner opposite his starting arrow. If an opponent has a piece on the center space, and a player moves his piece into the space, the opponent’s piece is bumped back to the opponent's starting arrow as per normal rules.
Partner Variation
The partner variation of Wahoo is played exactly the same way as Classic Wahoo, with the following additions to the rules: Partners sit opposite each other and play as a team. A player cannot land on spaces occupied by his partner’s pieces. If a player cannot move any of his pieces, he may instead move one of his partner’s pieces. The first team to move both sets of pieces into their tepees wins.
