Best Ways to Play Monopoly

"Monopoly" is a popular board game created by Parker Brothers, in which players attempt to buy property and become the king of the board by driving other players out of business. There are several variations on the original rules of the game which not only allow for a faster game, but possibly a more enjoyable one as well. Take a look at these popular rule variations to find out which method of playing is best for you.
  1. Free Parking Jackpot

    • The "Free Parking Jackpot" variation of the rules involves all of the money collected from taxes and fines being placed in the center of the board. If a player lands on the "Free Parking" space at any point in the game, he wins the money in the middle of the board plus $500.

    No Auctions

    • In this rule variation, no auction is held when a player refuses to buy property for the first time. This generally makes the game much longer, since a property must be landed on before it can be bought.

    Go Bonus

    • The "Go Bonus" rule allows a player to win additional money by landing directly on the "Go" space. This rule does not have to apply to cards that bring a player to "Go."

    Delayed Start

    • With this rule, the player can only buy property after they pass "Go" once.

    Snake Eyes Bonus

    • With the Snake Eyes bonus, a player can win a predetermined amount of money for rolling snake eyes(two ones).

    Rent Immunity

    • With the rent immunity rule, players do not have to pay rent on a property as part of a trade deal. For example, if one player trades St. Charles Place with another player, that player does not have to pay rent when he lands on St. Charles Place in the future.
