Say Anything
Say Anything is a lighthearted party game from North Star Games that allows players to guess opinions of other players. A player begins by asking a question from the game like, what would be the coolest thing to have at a mansion? Other players then write down corresponding answers. The player who asked the question chooses her favorite answer. The opposing players then try to guess which answer was chosen to round out the turn. The game is often a hit with teenagers because of the humor and quick gameplay it permits. It can also provide many hours of fun socializing with friends at get-togethers. Say Anything is suggested for ages 10 and up, but it might be best for ages 13 and up as the gameplay might be too challenging for younger players. The game is suited for three to eight players.
Apples to Apples
Apples to Apples is an award-winning party game from Mattel that requires sharp thinking, good strategy-making and off-the-wall humor. It allows players to make comparisons and form analogies. However, the rules of the game encourage the player to give the most creative, humorous or interesting answer he can think of. This makes for some outlandish and silly gameplay for teenagers that allows many hours of socializing. Teenagers also tend to enjoy this game because it allows them to relax their inhibitions and enjoy the company of friends. The game is suggested for ages 12 and up, but some of the topics are intended for older teenagers. This game plays best with four or more players.
Balderdash
Balderdash is a classic bluffing game from Mattel that is based on outlandish trivia questions. Each game card features the following categories: people, words, initials, movies and laws. The questions range from the bizarre to the outrageous, but this is what gives the game its charm. A player reads a card with the title from one of the categories, and the opposing player writes down what she believes it means. She may give a legitimate definition or make up something completely ridiculous. Players score points by guessing correct answers or by bluffing opponents into believing wrong answers. Teenagers will appreciate this game for its laugh-out-loud game-play and silly categories. Plus, an average game lasts about 30 minutes and would make a great icebreaker at parties or sleepovers. The game is suggested for ages 12 and up. Balderdash works best with two or more players.
Loaded Questions
Loaded Questions: The Classic Game of Who Said What? is a can't-miss party game for teenagers who do not mind sharing information about themselves in a nonsensical way. Sample questions include, If you were invisible, where would you go? and If you could be a member of any TV-sitcom family, what would you choose? There are more than 1,300 questions to entertain teenagers for many hours with opportunities for creativity and good-natured amusement. Published by All Things Equal Inc., the game is suggested for ages 12 and up, but, again, it might be best for older teenagers. It requires four to six players.
Wits &Wagers
Wits &Wagers is a fast-paced party game published by North Star Games that requires players to answer trivia questions and manage finances. Trivia buffs do not necessarily have an edge in this game, however, as the real strategy is in how you manage your supply of chips with well-placed bets. The player can place bets on her own guess being the right answer or on the guesses of her opponents being correct. Teenagers will find Wits &Wagers is exciting, great for learning strategy and developing social skills. The game is suggested for ages 10 and up, but it would be better for older children. Wits &Wagers can suit four to 20 players.
