How to Build a Washer Tossing Outdoor Game

Washer-tossing games are great entertainment for outdoor parties and barbecues. Simply put, the game requires that single players or two-player teams toss washers into a square box from approximately 10 feet away. Building the washer-tossing game is moderately more challenging than playing the actual game, but with the use of a few tools and supplies, you should be up and playing your very own outdoor washer game in no time.

Things You'll Need

  • Saw
  • Screwdriver

Instructions

  1. Construct Boxes

    • 1

Cut plywood into two 17-inch-by-17-inch squares.

    • 2

      Cut the 2-by-4s into 8 pieces--four 17-inch pieces and four 14-inch pieces.

    • 3

Use the two 14-inch pieces of 2-by-4 and two 17-inch pieces of 2-by-4 to construct a square for each box using two wood screws to connect each corner. Make sure that the two 17-inch pieces and the two 14-inch pieces, for each box, go the same way (vertical or horizontal).

    • 4

Connect each box to one of the 17-inch-by-17-inch pieces of plywood using three wood screws for each side (24 screws total). Be sure to put screws in from the plywood side of the box.

    Build Centerpiece

    • 5

Cut the PVC pipe into two 3-1/2-inch pieces.

    • 6
      Wood Glue

Use wood glue to attach the PVC pipes to the center of each board.

    • 7

Paint washers different colors to distinguish teams or buy two different types of washers.
