Board games have defined home entertainment for years, not only for kids, but for adults as well. Although modern technology creates a huge variety of things that adults can do for entertainment, such as video games, TV, and the Internet---it does not change the level of fun that many adults can have from board games.
  1. Battle of the Sexes

    • Many grown men and women love to compete against each other. In groups, dividing men and women can create the ideal environment for having fun. Battle of the Sexes is a game that helps men and women provide proof that they know more about the opposite sex.
      Each team is provided with a board, where the goal is to move their token across the board. Each team draws from a set of cards that has questions about the opposite sex---or opposing team. When a team answers their question correctly, they are allowed to move their token.

    Scrabble

    • This popular game of Scrabble originates from the mid-20th century; however, it really grew popular in the 1980s when it was turned into a TV show on NBC. With a huge vocabulary, the average adult can take on other adults to see who can come up with more words to earn them points.
      Scrabble contains different squares with different values. The game also has a group of letters with point values that are drawn by each person playing. Each player must play off of a letter from a word that is already on the board. Points are added and the player with the most points is the winner.

    Monopoly

    • Although often used by children, as well, the game is very fun for many adults as it deals with concepts that are common place in adult life, such as investment and selling strategies.
      Each player moves around a board that contains several properties. Players also start with a finite amount of money and can choose to buy or not buy when they land on properties during their turn. They can charge rent at certain points during the game, with the goal being to take all other player's money.

    Scene It

    • Scene It is a game developed by Mattel that is DVD-based. It has an interactive board---just as traditional games do; however, rather than having cards or pictures, it has a DVD that will show images and scenes. The game focuses on pop-culture knowledge and is based on memory and logic. The goal of each player is to answer correctly and move across the board and reach the end.
