Board Games for Three Year Old Children

Board games made for children ages 3 and up are meant to entertain kids and allow kids to learn through fun and interaction with other children. Many board games aimed at younger children are simple, easy to play and teach kids about colors, numbers and the alphabet. Board games for three-year old children are especially ideal for preschoolers who have basic reading skills or are still unable to read.
  1. Candy Land

    • Candyland was first introduced in 1949, and Hasbro boasts it is "every child's first game." Kids choose one of four gingerbread pawns and take turns spinning a wheel to move through the board game by sorting and matching colors and shapes. This game teaches children to recognize colors and to match items. The object of the colorful game is to be the first player to reach the end of the game board. Many versions of this game are available, including Candy Land Castle, Candy Land Dora the Explorer and Candy Land Winnie the Pooh.

    Hi Ho! Cherry-O

    • Hi Ho! Cherry-O is a board game by Hasbro for kids ages 3 and up that teaches preschoolers simple counting, number recognition and social skills. A classic for over 30 years, this simple game starts with each player choosing a tree and placing 10 cherries on it. Children take turns trying to be the first to pick their trees clean by, depending on where they land on the game board, filling their buckets with cherries. Land in the wrong place and the kids return cherries on their tree. The object of this two- to four-player game is to be the first person to have no cherries left of your tree.

    Super Why ABC Letter Game

    • Super Why ABC Letter Game is based on the animated PBS series "Super Why" and is a game for children ages 3 and up. Kids playing this two- to four-player game by University Games are able to use their reading skills, such as alphabet recognition, rhyming, spelling and basic reading, as they navigate the board. The object of the game, which is played by drawing from a deck of cards to match items on the board, is to be the first player to join each of the four characters in a race to reach the finish line.
