The Object of the Game
An "NFL-opoly" game board is set up just like a regular "Monopoly" board. Each NFL team represents a "property." The game allows for two to five players. The players have the opportunity to purchase the teams and further expand their purchase. The object of the game is to create a monopoly of the league and all of its teams. At the time of the release of the game, there were 28 NFL teams, so the final goal would be to gain control of all 28 to win the game.
Game Parts
The game uses chips (100 count), colored white, red and blue. White chips (50 count) are worth one point, red chips (25 count) are worth two points, and blue chips (25 count) are worth five points each. There are 28 deed cards (for the 28 football teams), 16 wild cards (i.e., awards, challenges), 16 penalty cards (i.e., lose a turn, suspension, fines), six player tokens (franchise) and two standard dice.
Paying for a Team
A player may pay for a team with the assorted chips (in the original version, pricing of teams were based on their final standings of that year; Denver Broncos were the most expensive team). Just like in "Monopoly," a player can place more coins, and eventually a token, on teams to increase the payout if an opposing player lands on your team.
