History
This game was invented in Boston in 1883 or 1884 and was first known as "Stern-Halma". Stern is the German word for star. It was invented by a man named Howard Monks, a thoracic surgeon at Harvard Medical School.
Significance
The object of the game is to be the first player to move all of the marbles across the board onto the opposite triangle of his own.
Features
This game is suggested to be played by anyone seven years or older. It usually takes about 30 minutes to complete a game. The game includes a game board, usually made of wood or metal, as well as six sets of different colored marbles, one color for each player.

A Chinese checker board has 121 holes.
Famous Ties
Chinese checkers became very popular in the United States in the 1930s. Milton Bradley Company got a patent on this game in 1941, although many versions were made by other manufacturers prior to that.
