According to the website, Players choose a world power and align themselves together to represent the Allied and Axis powers. Players then build armies and work together to defeat their opponents. The players battle using dice, and pit their armies against their opponent's armies. According to the website, this game features "366 Plastic Playing Pieces," which include airplanes, ships, submarines and infantry units. Players can engage in good-spirited competition and learn about history as they play this game. They also have the opportunity to work on strategy building skills. This game also features many expansions, which can be found on wizards.com. These include famous battles such as Guadalcanal and Battle of the Bulge.
Risk 2210 A.D.
This war game, also found on wizards.com, is based off the popular war game "Risk." It adds on the concept of building up your armies and than using them to conquer your opponent's countries, theming the game in the future. According to the website, it adds commander pieces that give you bonuses for battling, and also allow you to now conquer the sea and also the moon. The game also adds action cards that give you different advantages during the game. This game is great for "Risk" enthusiasts because it introduces some new concepts not seen in the original "Risk" game. Another advantage to this game and the original game is that it allows children of all ages to play, because it is very easy to learn
Diplomacy
Another game produced by Avalon Hill and found on wizards.com, is "Diplomacy." The object of this game, according to the website is to, "Form alliances and unhatch your traitorous plots as you negotiate and outwit---in a delicate balance of cooperation and competition---to gain dominance of the continent!" An interesting twist to this war game is that to conquer enemy territories the main action is not to battle one another, but to acquire them by diplomacy. According to the game's objectives, you must form alliances, and than sometimes break them at strategic times. You must go off, away from the board and consult with your competitors on the best way to acquire land. You may be able to convince your allies to help you acquire your enemies land on one turn, and than on another, form entirely different allies. This game can last a long time, but is a way to have a good time with friends.
