Chinese Checkers
The holes in this marble board game are in a large star pattern, with sixty-one holes in the center of the star and ten holes in each of the star̵7;s arms. There are six arms in the star. The game is played with two to six players. A player will have ten marbles of the same color, with opposing players using marbles of a different color. Each player places all ten of his marbles in one of the arms of the star, with the object being to move his marbles to the opposite side of the star before the other players. Generally, players begin with their marbles placed on the opposite side of the board from one another, though this can be modified with an odd number of players. Players make one move per turn. Marbles only go forward, not backward. Marbles move forward one space, or may jump another marble of any color. Consecutive jumps may be made on the same turn, so a good strategy is to create a line of marbles that one marble can move along by jumping again and again in a zigzag pattern.
Solitaire
No one to play with? No problem. Challenge yourself to a game of marble solitaire. The solitaire board is round with 33 holes laid out in a small cross pattern and a groove running around the perimeter of the board in which to place marbles as they go out of play. A marble is placed into each hole on the board except the center hole. The game is played by jumping marbles and removing the jumped marble, which is then placed in the groove. The object is to jump marbles in such a way that there is only one left at the end of the game. If you have more than one marble on the board but cannot make any more moves (because the remaining marbles are too far apart to jump other marbles), you lose and need to start again.
