How to Make Your Own Game Counters

Maybe you are in despair because your favorite board game is missing pieces, preventing you from playing. Maybe you are stumped for ideas for counters if you have devised your own new game. Maybe you simply want to add your own personal touch to a game you play frequently. No matter the reason, you can create new game counters.

  • Image editing software
  • Printer
  • Paper
  • Scissors or craft knife
  • Cardboard

      Create or choose the image you wish to use for your counter using the image editing software, such as the Gnu Image Manipulation Program (GIMP), which is free to download (see Resources). Copy enough instances of the image or arrange enough different images in the print area of the screen to create as many counters as you want and print them.

      Adhere the pages to the cardboard, applying a thin, even coat of adhesive. A spray adhesive or glue that is painted on will ensure that the pages are completely glued. Allow the adhesive to dry.

      Carefully cut the counters apart along the edges of the individual images. If you used a thicker cardboard, a craft knife will work better than scissors.
