How to Play the Express Yourself Board Game

"Express Yourself" is a Parker Brothers board game with an electronic console that issues commands that the players must act out in order for their competitors to guess the prompt. It's similar to the classic game charades. The game is suitable for parties and small gatherings and requires at least three to six players. "Express Yourself" is no longer manufactured by Parker Brothers, but if you find this game somewhere with no instructions included, fret not. It's relatively simple to play.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a chip and insert it into the electronic game console. After each player has done so, the console host will assign pairings and let you know who goes first. For example, if you chose the yellow chip, the host might say, "Yellow goes first and you will be paired with blue."

    • 2

Listen for the electronic hosts instructions when it is your turn. You will receive a prompt card from the console. The electronic host will tell you how to relay clues and whom to relay them to.

    • 3

Act out, draw or give verbal clues, based on the electronic hosts instructions so your partner can guess the clue, but do not reveal your prompt.

    • 4

Grab the card from the console as soon as you guess it, otherwise the machine will suck it back in. You have approximately 10 seconds to guess the prompt, and the machine will keep track of the time for you.

    • 5

Continue switching partners as directed all throughout the game until each player has had been partnered together an equal number of times.
