Proper Noun Scrabble
When you play the traditional game of Scrabble, you can't use proper nouns such as a person's name or a company's name with your letters. In Proper Noun Scrabble, those are the only words allowed. You play this version of the game in the same way as the original, with each player drawing seven tiles in the beginning. However, you must spell a proper noun each time you have a turn, and if you play a regular word, you lose your turn.
Extra Letters Scrabble
Extra Letters Scrabble is similar to the traditional method of playing, except that each player draws an extra tile at the beginning, getting eight letters. Each time you draw letters, you take an additional letter. For example, if you make a four letter word, then you draw five letters. You then put one letter back, but you choose which letter. This helps those who need a certain letter to make a word and gives everyone an advantage.
Ridiculous Scrabble
Ridiculous Scrabble goes by different names, but the point is to make up and create as many fake words as possible. The only trick is that you have to come up with a definition for that word. You play a different fake word each time it's your turn and you have to explain what the word means when called upon by other players. If you can't think of a definition, you lose your turn and you also lose your turn if you play a word that actually exists.
Speed Scrabble
If you've ever played a game of Scrabble, then you know that it's possible to play a marathon game that lasts hours. The Speed version of Scrabble happens a lot faster. When the game starts, you put one letter on the center tile and then distribute the remaining tiles evenly among the other players. The player who can make the longest word first becomes the first player. The game ends when no one can make any words with the tiles they have left and the winner is the one with the most points.
