How to Play the Speed Dice on Monopoly

Monopoly has the reputation as a slow game to play. To combat this image, Parker Brothers introduced the Speed Die in 2007 and began releasing it with the standard Monopoly game. The classic rules of the property trading game remain the same. The Speed Die works only to speed up the pace of the game by giving the option to move more spaces or buy more properties each turn, and ̶0;learning how to play with the Speed Die is as fast as playing with it.̶1;

Instructions

    • 1

      Set up the Monopoly game board using the Classic Monopoly Rules. Give each player an extra $1,000 in addition to the traditional $1,500.

    • 2

      Start the game using only the two traditional dice. Use only the traditional dice for the first trip around the game board.

    • 3

      Roll the Speed Die along with the two traditional dice after passing GO for the first time. Action is based on what is rolled.

    • 4

      Rolling a 1, 2, or 3 on the Speed Die: add the number to the sum of the two traditional dice and move forward the total number of spaces.

    • 5

      Rolling the Bus on the Speed Die: choose to either go forward the sum of both traditional dice, or go forward the number of spaces of either. For example, rolling a 2 and a 4 means the player can go forward 2 spaces, 4 spaces, or 6 spaces.

    • 6

      Rolling Mr. Monopoly on the Speed Die: move the sum of the traditional dice and complete any action needed on this space. Then, if there are still properties available, advance to the next unowned property. Buy the property or put it up for auction. If there are not still properties available, advance to the next property on which money is owed to another player.

    • 7

      If three-of-a-kind is rolled, move anywhere on the board.
