Instructions
Choose the type of "Monopoly" game you wish to create. Because you creating your own game, you can focus on local landmarks, famous people, your friends and family, or any other theme.
Select the 22 main properties that will feature on your "Monopoly" board. In addition, you will need four properties for your railroads and two for utilities. Write these properties down, in order from most expensive to least expensive.
Cut your cardboard so that it forms a square roughly 15 inches long and wide. Create the spaces on the board using paint markers. There are a total of 40 spaces, with each side made up of nine unique spaces and two corner spaces.
Write the names of your properties on each space. You can use a picture of a "Monopoly" board and mimic the placement of each property. Add additional pictures onto each space for a customized look and feel to your game.
Mark the remaining spaces on the board, such as the Chance and Community Chest spaces, as well as the four corner spaces.
Write the names and rental costs of each property onto a separate index card. You can use the amounts found in the standard game of "Monopoly."
Create your Chance and Community Chest cards on index cards that are roughly the size of business cards. Use these cards to help players get ahead or send them directly to jail. Create at least 25 of each type of card.
Craft your game pieces using objects you find around the house or make your own with crafting supplies. Design the game tokens to mimic the theme of your game. For example, a "Monopoly" board with a video game theme can have pieces that resemble controllers or famous game consoles.
Make your houses and hotels using the same method as the game pieces. Remember that four houses are equal to one hotel, so have more house pieces, as they will be in greater demand.
Create your "Monopoly" money. You can do this using your computer or make each piece on your own. Your game should feature denominations ranging from one dollar to 500 dollars. Create at least 40 of each bill.
