Mix the tiles in your queue. A word may not pop into your head with a particular combination, but the assortment of already placed words and your tiles can trigger a word or multiple words to play. Mix the tiles if the set word is short and you want to gain extra points.
Purchase the official Scrabble Dictionary to expand your game playing knowledge and learn words you may have never heard before. The dictionary is useful when you are left with challenging letters or no vowels within your tiles. Words like "Nu," "Za," "Xa" and "Qi" are all acceptable according to the dictionary, so they can become beneficial during game play.
Expand scrabble words by forming tiles to create common word prefixes and suffixes. For example, "ED," "LY," "RE," "UN" and "ES" can all be applied to words to add extra points. Add these to high-pointed tiles for the best advantage. For example, "LY" can be added to "QUICK" for a large score.
Make Scrabble words that form over double/triple score spaces. Even if the word is shorter than another word you may have, it could be worth more on a multi-times tile spot. For example, the word "CAT" over a triple word score would equal 15 points. The word "CATCH" would only give you 12 points on standard tiles.
Form multiple words on the board. This is one of the most challenging aspects of the game, but if it is done, the points are worth it. The easiest way to do this is to add an "S" tile to the corner of two words. Every tile that is used with multiple words is counted for each word it is included in.
