Crokinole Rules

Crokinole is a game of mysterious origin, although most believe it originated in Canada in the late 1800s. The game resembles a table-top version of shuffleboard. Each player takes turns sliding discs onto board attempting to get the disks into the center hole.
  1. Determine Which Color Shoots First

    • There are two colors in crokinole, generally white and black. Determine who goes first by flipping a coin or drawing a disc from a hat.

Only the Player Shooting Can Touch the Board

    • The board and the players must remain in place at all times, and only the player who is shooting the discs can touch the board. All other players must remain at their seats.

Position Your Disc on the Shooting Line

    • The line closest to the player is the shooting line. Place the disc so any part of the disc is touching that line.

Flick the Disc at the Center Hole

    • The player then flicks or slides the disc to the center hole, attempting to land in the hole. If the disc lands in the hole, it is worth 20 points. If the disc does not land in the hole, it is left on the table and the next person shoots according to Section 3. Play continues until all players have shot one disc.

    Count the Points

    • Once everyone has fired one disc, points are counted. The points are as follows: Five for any disc in the outer-most ring, 10 in the middle ring, 15 in the ring closest to the center and 20 for the center ring.
