Super Scrabble Rules

Super Scrabble takes the classic crossword game to the next level with more letter tiles, a larger game board and quadruple score squares on the board. While the original Scrabble is limited to four players, up to 18 can play Super Scrabble. The same basic rules of the original game all apply to Super Scrabble, but now players have the ability to create even more words and score more points.
  1. Creating Words

    • Players each draw seven letters from the pile and must form a word on the board with their letters. The game's first word must include a letter on the board's center star square, which counts as a double word score square. All words must be horizontal or vertical on the board. Each new word must join with a letter from one of the words currently on the board.

    Scoring

    • Players get points for each letter used, with the number of points shown on each letter; the point values for each letter are the same as the original game. The points for a letter double or triple when that tile is on a double or triple letter score square, and the word's total value multiplies when one of its tiles is on a double or triple word score square, even if that tile is a blank. After playing a word, players draw the number of tiles they used for that word so that they again have seven tiles to use for their next word. The game ends when one player runs out of tiles and can't draw any more, or no one can make a word. Players lose points from their totals for the letters they still have, and the player with the most points wins.

    New Rules

    • The Super Scrabble board is 21 by 21 squares, compared to the 15 by 15 original board, giving the new board 441 total squares to use. The board also has new premium squares for quadruple letter and quadruple word scores. All of these quadruple squares are along the outer edges of the board, with the quadruple word score squares at the corners. All of the newly created squares are along the board's outer reaches, while the middle squares are the same as the original Scrabble game board. The game has twice the number of letter tiles as the original, but not all of the letters have twice the number of tiles as before. For example, there are 10 S tiles compares to four in the original game. This was specifically done to help players make plural words. The letters C, H, M, N, R and T also have more than twice as many as before. To compensate, the letters A, G, I, L, O, U and V have less than twice their original numbers. All other letters, including the blanks, have twice the number of tiles of the original.
