American Girl
Go on a challenging quest with the American Girl characters to find keepsakes particular to the characters and their lives. Players have a choice of eight different girls from the American Girl series. Each player must draw a trade card and then journey to the place where the keepsake may be found. Players place the keepsakes in a special chest and the first one around the board with all their character's keepsakes win. This engaging game allows American Girl fans to learn more about the characters' stories and the time period in which they lived. The game changes each time it is played. The pieces in this game are small and not suitable for younger children.
Strategy
With multiple variations, Blokus is a game that's easy to learn. The original game, now called Blokus Classic, is played on a square board and takes about 20 minutes per game. Using strategy, the object of the game is to put the maximum number of pieces on the board with the same color touching on one or more angles but never touching on a side. Timing and strategy are essential, as you must anticipate and block your opponent's piece. This game can be played with two to four players. Other variations with the same base rules include 3D, Duo and Trigon.
Challenge
Use girl-power brain power when playing TIPOVER in its board version or online. The principle for both games is the same. One or more players must create a path using crates without touching the floor (board). A player draws a challenge card that shows a puzzle that she must replicate by setting up colorful crates in assorted heights. When the player thinks she has found a solution, she places her red tipper (figure) at the start (one end of the configuration). The tipper does the rest. The goal is to get the red tipper to the end without touching the ground. This game is an excellent choice during travel, as it can be played alone and is small enough to keep in a carry-on bag.
For Laughs
Gather the girls around the table for Cranium. Players have a chance to show their talents, whether it's drawing and sculpting, acting out charades, singing or solving puzzles. This creative game brings friends together to use their brain power and artistic abilities to make it 'round the board. The girls can play against each other or as teams. All that is needed is pencil, paper, clay and a sense of humor. It does get silly. The first player to reach Cranium Central is the winner. This game also has a booster set if more variety is needed. It's a wonderful game for a party or as an icebreaker. There is an updated version called Cranium Wow Game but some of the categories are difficult for this age group.
