The Importance of Games

Games have been around for thousands of years. It is more important to play games now than ever before. Playing games is not a waste of time, they are not all unproductive and the benefits they bring are endless. It is the games that people become addicted to that give this form of entertainment a bad name.
  1. Stress Relief

    • Winning at competitive games or playing relaxing games reduces stress. Entertainment is an antidote to the strain and pressure of everyday life.

    Bonding

    • Board games, card games and casual video games are a great way to bond with people. Whether it is friends working together to take down a monster or parents teaching their children how to play Monopoly for the first time, most people walk away feeling closer to one another.

    Escape

    • Playing games can give people a temporary escape from their pain and suffering. Games focus their attention on something else.

    Exercise

    • Video games such as Wii Fit and Dance Dance Revolution combine the entertainment of games with ways for people to exercise and get in shape.

    Learning

    • Some people would never pick up a history book if they were not forced to in school. When historical information is presented as part of a game, learning becomes fun.
