How to Play Outburst

Nothing brings a family together like game night, and no game causes more fights and hilarity than Outburst by Hasbro. If you like games that include a lot of people yelling, shouting, arguing and laughing hysterically all at the same time, then Outburst is the game for you. Take it to your next party or family gathering and watch the sparks fly. This is a team game, and few can resist joining in the fun.

  Check out all the different types of Outburst games online or at your local toy store. Hasbro has made several editions of the original Outburst game, adding Outburst Jr. and Outburst Jr. Travel for the younger crowd. Outburst Bible Edition is popular with church groups. Outburst Remix has been updated with a new twist, while Outburst Ultimate appeals to the techie with an electronic version of the game.

  Consider the ages of the people that will be playing. The original Outburst, Outburst Remix, and Outburst Ultimate are geared for ages 16 and up. Outburst Bible, Outburst Jr. and Outburst Jr. Travel editions are suitable for ages eight and older.

  Prepare for arguments and a lot of yelling, then select someone to read a required disclaimer from Hasbro before play can begin. The statement informs players that the game is not fair because the only correct answers are those listed on the Outburst card. Players are advised that they cannot complain because they do not get to make the rules!

  Begin the game by splitting the group into teams. Teams do not have to be even in number. In fact, you can make the one guy who thinks he knows everything play by himself.

  Get ready for pandemonium when play begins. An emcee reads the topic on an Outburst Card. A team can play or pass the topic. If the team chooses to play, they have 60 seconds to shout out as many answers as possible and try to match the 10 answers listed on the card. For example the topic could be "Name body parts that come in pairs". Few teams can match all ten answers in the alloted time.

  Choose to pass the topic to another team if your team thinks the topic is too hard, but remember that the other team has time to think of their answers while you play the next topic given to you.

  Earn points and bonus points throughout the game and the team with the most points at the end of one hour wins. There is no trophy, but bragging rights can be very sweet, especially if that one guy who thinks he knows everything is not on the winning team.
