Sign up with an account at one of the many sites that offers online checkers. Some options include Yahoo! games, MSN games, FlyOrDie and Pogo. Some sites allow you to play as a guest, although this method does not save your record or provide ranking information. In addition, sometimes guests can only play against the computer rather than with real people.
Log in to your account by entering the username and password you created.
Read the rules of play for the particular checkers website you are using. Most play by the official rules, including the rule that you must take a jump if you are able, but some sites allow games with variations on the traditional checkers rules.
Join a checkers lobby, a place where real players gather to set up games over the internet.
Create a new game or join a game that somebody else created. Some sites such as Yahoo! have color-coded skill levels next to each player's name, so you can have an idea of how good your opponent is and whether you will be evenly matched.
Play checkers by clicking on the piece you would like to move and the location to which you would like to move it.
