Instructions
Lay the chess board on the table and group the chess pieces by color: There should be 16 black pieces and 16 white pieces.
Line up the pawn pieces in each box of the second rows on both sides of the board. There are eight white pawns and eight black pawns. The pawns are the smallest pieces of the set.
Place one rook at each corner of the first row on both sides of the chess board. There will be two white rooks and two black rooks. The Harry Potter rooks are the smallest of the remaining pieces and the character will have a shield in his left hand and a knife in his right hand.
Place each of the knights next to the rooks in the second box on both sides of the first row of the board. There are two black knights and two white knight that depict a knight riding a horse.
Put the bishops next to each of the knights in the third box on each side of the first row of the board. They are the tallest pieces in set and depict a man holding a staff in his left hand and holding two fingers in the air on his right hand. There are two black bishops and two white bishops.
Place the king and queen next to each other in the middle of the first row on each side. The rule is that the queen always starts on her own color. This means that the light queen will line up on the light tile and the dark queen will line up on the dark tile. The king for each color will be placed in the remaining open spot directly next to the queen. In the Harry Potter chess set, the queen is the piece with her arms crossed in front of her chest. The king piece holds his right hand in a fist and covers that fist with his left hand. There will one king and one queen of both colors.
