Things You'll Need
Instructions
Cut your 1/4-inch plywood sheet into two 16-inch by 10-inch squares. These will make the two sides of the game board.
Cut four 16-inch by 1 1/2-inch plywood strips from the 1/2-inch plywood sheet. Then cut four 9-inch by 1 1/2-inch strips from the same sheet. These are the walls of the board.
Lay a thin 1/8-inch bead of wood adhesive along the edge of the 16-inch strips and secure them to both of the longer sides of your 16-inch by 10-inch plywood sheets (the game board floor) using clamps.
Repeat Step 3 for the 9-inch strips. (note, 1/2 an inch has been removed from the length of these strips to account for the overlap of the longer strips.
Let dry for several hours.
Draw your points (the game triangles) along the short side of each side. There are six, and each one needs to be spaced identically along the side. Then paint each alternating strip black and white, as in a typical backgammon board. You can go right down the row, starting with black on one end and white on the other.
Fasten two 1/4-inch hinges to the long side of the board wall, using a small flat head wood screw and a dab of wood glue. Be sure the hinge is facing up, just above the top edge of the wall.
Place the other board game upside down on top of this side, as if closing the board. Then fasten the other side of the hinge to the board wall. Your board will now open and close like a real backgammon game.
