Purchase a checkers book that teaches the intricacies of the game. You can do so by going to the Barnes and Noble website. Recommended checkers books include "How to Win at Checkers" by Fred Reinfeldskip and "Win at Checkers" by Millard Hopperskip. You can also go to your local library to look for these and other checkers books.
Download and play checkers software from the Internet. Two websites with quality checkers software are the Pogo website and the Zone website. Each website offers a free checkers download where you can match up and play against other checkers players around the world.
Play live checkers. When playing checkers in real life compared to on a computer, it takes some time to adjust. You can practice your live game by joining a local checkers club. You can find out if you have a local checkers club by looking in your yellow pages. If there isn't a checkers club in your area, play with your friends, family or anyone else who is willing to share in the fun.
Practice a couple times a week. To become a master checkers player, it takes practice. By playing checkers both live and online a couple times a week, you can improve your game drastically in a short amount of time.
