      Go to the MSN website and choose the "Games" link (see Resources below).

      Click the "Sign In" link and be taken to an area where you can enter your email address and password, or register for a free game account with MSN. Once you sign in you are ready to play.

      Scroll down to the "Genre" area and choose the "Card and Board Games" link. After you click on the link, you will be taken to another screen where you can choose to play a free game of checkers.

      Scroll down again and select "Checkers" from the list of card and board games available on MSN. After choosing checkers, you will be directed to the page where you will then click on the "Play Now" button. This will then lead you to an opponent selection screen.

      Choose an opponent. You can play versus the computer, be matched with another online player, or pick one of your own friends (who also must be signed up) to play against. Once you choose, you will then be taken to a game selection screen.

      Decide on the kind of game you want to play. There are several selections with each having its own set of rules.

      Let the game load and commence game play by placing the pointer on the screen over the piece that you want to move. You will then left click on your mouse and point to the open square you want your piece to be placed.

      Jump your opponent's checkers by placing your pointer on checker you want to move and then left-click and point to the open spot.
