Strategies for Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's for Xbox

Based on the popular anime series and the turn-based trading card game, "Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Decade Duels" for the Xbox 360 allows you to do battle with evil foes to become the best card duelist in the world. The game includes more than 4,000 playing cards, each one providing a special benefit during battle. Knowing specific strategies when assembling your card deck can help ensure dueling success.
  1. Swarm

    • In implementing a swarm strategy, you attempt to build the most aggressive deck possible, loading it with monsters, ways to summon monsters and removal spells to clear the way for even more monsters. The idea is to overrun the opponent and to beat him before he has time to react.

    Control

    • Far less aggressive than a swarming scheme, a control strategy attempts to win battles of attrition, outlasting opponents due to an advantage in sheer number of cards. A good control deck features removal cards and similar tactics that force the opponent to discard his assets. Expert control duelists never enter battle without holding the card advantage.

    One Turn Kill

    • The One Turn Kill strategy, or OTK, builds a deck in which you can launch multiple attacks on a single turn, with the combined series of assaults capable of inflicting at least 8,000 damage points. For instance, the Armed Samurai, Ben Kei, gains additional attacks depending on the number of spells attached to him. Equipping Ben Kei with spells such as United We Stand, Mage Power and the Axe of Despair allows him to cause more than 8,000 damage points on a single turn.

    Stall

    • Similar in some respects to a control deck, the stall strategy tries to employ a defensive style to outlast the opponent. A strong stall deck features cards that prevent your opponent from attacking and other low-level monsters that can still inflict damage even while the opponent is blocked. Ideal stall cards include Gravity Bind and Messenger of Peace.

    Burn

    • Often paired with a stall strategy, a burn deck inflicts direct damage on an opponent. Cards like the Wave-Motion Cannon and monsters such as the Des Koala and the Stealth Bird belong in all burn decks. Some burn players keep a few stall cards handy, as well, following up the stall with a quick burn for easy damage points.

    Deck Strategy

    • Regardless of your favored strategy, try to keep your deck close to 40 total cards, which allows for enough flexibility to perform combos yet still keeps the number low enough that you'll have a better chance of drawing the desired card when needed. When building your deck, focus on the versatile yet powerful cards such as Monster Reborn, which permits summoning any monster from either graveyard, and the cards that can kill multiple monsters on a single turn, like Torrential Tribute, Dark Hole and Mirror Force. Also, include multiple copies of key cards to increase your chances of finding it when you need it most,
