Setting
Kino Der Toten is German for "Cinema of the Dead," and it's a fitting name. While set in the 1960s, the map takes place in an abandoned Nazi theater that has been overrun with zombies. The theater is the largest room and it contains the map's lone teleporter, which is located up on the theater's main stage. You must use the teleporter to reach the film reels.
Locations
Entering the theater's teleporter transports you to the Pack-a-Punch room that doubles as a projection room. After spending a certain amount of time in the room, you'll automatically teleport to one of four locations: the dentist's office, the conference room, Samantha's bedroom or Samantha's destroyed bedroom. These four rooms contain the three film reels, with the location of the reels changing each time you play. However, the reels generally appear on a table, on a shelf or propped up against the wall or a piece of furniture. The presence of four rooms often leads to the misconception there are four film reels and not three.
Features
The film reels appear as circular film canisters. Each reel features the logo for Group 935, the scientific research group responsible for unleashing the zombie virus. Point towards each film reel and press your "Reload" button to pick it up. If you're having difficulty spotting the reels, simply roam around the room clicking your "Reload" button to pick up everything possible. When successful, the film reel disappears from the room and a small circular icon with six holes appears on the screen indicating you obtained the reel.
Function
You can only collect one film reel at a time. When you return to the projector room, face the projector and press the "Reload" button to load the film and activate the projector to display the film on the theater's large screen. Each film provides background information on the zombie apocalypse, showing a movie with an audio commentary from Dr. Maxis, the project's lead researcher. Playing the three films and listening to the five radios scattered throughout the map will provide you with a more complete picture of how the zombies came to swarm the countryside.
