Scooby Doo Games for Toddlers

Over the years, Scooby Doo has attracted fans of all ages. Even toddlers take to Scooby, Fred, Velma, Daphne and Shaggy. If you are hosting an event such as a birthday party for your toddler, incorporate Scooby Doo-themed games for the kids to play over the course of the afternoon.
  1. Dress-Up Game

    • Purchase toddler-sized Scooby Doo costumes at a costume supply shop or party store and play dress up. Toddlers will get a kick out of becoming the characters they love to watch. Then engage in imagination play as they get to be Scooby for a while. If holding a Scooby Doo-themed party, purchase toddler-sized clothing or costumes for the other characters in the cartoon. For example, you might a purple dress and lavender boots for a girl who wishes to dress as Daphne. Or, purchase a pair of brown pants and green shirt for a boy who wants to emulate Shaggy.

    Scooby Puzzles

    • Print or purchase Scooby Doo-themed puzzles that are age appropriate for toddlers. Often these puzzles only have a few pieces so they are easier for children to solve. You may also make your own Scooby puzzle by printing an image of Scooby Doo or the rest of the characters in the cartoon and then pasting it to a piece of cardboard. Cut the cardboard into a few pieces to create the puzzle. Additionally, cutting puzzle pieces into basic shapes such as circles and squares allows you to teach the child about shapes while simultaneously solving the puzzle.

    Scooby Snack Drop

    • This game requires a plastic container and dog treats in the shape of a bone that serve as "Scooby Snacks." The container is placed on the floor with the child standing just in front of it. Instruct him to hold the Scooby Snack just below his chin and drop it into the container. Each child gets 10 chances. The child with the most Scooby snacks in the container wins. For slightly older toddlers, vary the game by setting a time limit. The child who drops the most Scooby snacks in the container in a fixed amount of time wins. For another variation, place the container about five to seven feet away from the child. He gets 10 Scooby snacks and must attempt to toss each one into the container. The child with the most in the container wins.

    Scooby Doo Inflatables

    • If the Scooby games are for a gathering such as a birthday party, then rent a Scooby themed inflatable for the event. There are different types of inflatable products available from rental and party stores. Rent one that is specifically aimed for toddlers so the scale is correct. During the event, supervise the kids as they climb, bounce and slide on the inflatable toy.

    Scooby Balloon Games

    • Both of these games are ideal for party situations and aimed at toddlers a little more advanced. For the first game, give each toddler a Scooby Doo balloon. Play music and allow them to bat the balloon around the room while the music is playing. The moment the music stops, they must grab their balloons and freeze. Decide if you want to play elimination style or just let everyone participate for the entire game.

For the second game, blow up a bunch of small white balloons and draw ghost faces on them. Place these ghosts around the room. Tell the toddlers that they are playing Scooby and they must catch as many ghosts as possible. The person who collects the most ghosts wins.
