Walkthrough for Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince on the Wii

"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" for the Wii continues the ongoing Harry Potter saga, following the boy wizard during his sixth year at Hogwarts as he battles the forces of Lord Voldemort. The game features nine levels, each with its own unique objectives, from fighting Harry's Slytherin foes to engaging in Quidditch matches and tests of magical skills. Knowing a few tips can help you survive some of the more trying challenges and lead Harry to triumph over evil.
  1. Goyle

    • After learning the basics of spell casting and flying during the game's opening level, Level 2 opens at the foot of a long wooden bridge. Gregory Goyle, one of Hogwarts' worst bullies, confronts you on the other side of the bridge and challenges you to a fight. Goyle casts a single Stupefy spell, pauses and then fires three more spells in quick succession. Dodge each spell and gradually inch your way towards Goyle. Once you get to just outside arm's reach, unleash an Expelliarmus spell to defeat him.

    Crabbe

    • During Level 3, you must engage in battle with Goyle's pal and fellow dark wizard, Vincent Crabbe. Like Goyle, Crabbe also utilizes Stupefy spells, firing one single blast and then three. Except Crabbe fires his three all at once and not in sequence, making them more difficult to dodge. Do your best to avoid the spells and inch close enough to take him out with Expelliarmus.

    Great Staircase

    • After defeating Crabbe, exit the Great Hall and descend the Great Staircase to find a portrait of a woman in a black dress. Pass through her portrait for a shortcut, emerging at the Clock Tower. Once there, fight another Slytherin foe, except this time use the Protego spell to claim victory.

    Bellatrix

    • At the start of Level 5, follow Severus and Draco without letting them know you're there. Stay at least five strides behind them at all times. If you get discovered, you have to start the level over. If successful, you reach a cut scene that leads into a fight with Bellatrix Lestrange. She employs Protego and Expelliarmus spells. Be patient. Use Protego to guard against her attacks and then counter with Expelliarmus or even Stupefy while she's recharging her spells.

    Bellatrix Again

    • Don't celebrate when dropping Bellatrix, because she's quick to recover and launches into an immediate rematch. However, this time she's far more aggressive, firing instantly charged Stupefy spells and well-timed Expelliarmus blasts. She even attacks while you're knocked down, so try to remain standing. Like before, use Protego to block her spells and wait for the perfect time to retaliate. If you knock her down, press the attack and inflict as much damage as possible before she recovers.

    Fenrir

    • As soon as Bellatrix flees, the werewolf Fenrir races in to continue the fight. Fenrir charges right at you, making him vulnerable to Expelliarmus. Once you gain the advantage, stand over the fallen Fenrir and hit him with as many Stupefy spells as possible. A couple rounds of the same pattern defeats Fenrir rather easily.
