Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire Xbox Guide

Basics

• Unlike the previous games in the series, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" allows you to choose the level you want to play, and you can also play cooperatively with two friends. Each time you clear a level, you receive a shield and return to the main menu. Collecting enough shields unlocks additional levels. You also collect beans throughout the game, using the beans to purchase special cards that upgrade your stats and abilities.

Characters

• The game lets you play as the book's three main characters: Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. You have the option of playing as any of the three at any time, although you may wish to alternate levels evenly among all three so as to upgrade each character as much as possible.

Spells

• All three main characters use their wizardry skills to cast an assortment of jinx and charm spells. Jinx spells, such as Vermiculus, Lapifors, Ebublio and Inflatus, defeat creatures and destroy objects to earn beans or to reveal shields. Charms, such as Wingardium Leviosa and Carpe Retractum, perform various actions like levitating objects or pulling objects closer. Successful spell casting increases your Magic Mastery level and earns additional collector cards. Characters may even join forces to cast powerful cooperative spells of Magicus Extremos to inflict greater damage on foes.

Cards

• The game includes three types of collector cards. Each character must perform master jinx spells to unlock six sets of six character cards, which you can then purchase with beans. Defeating the game's various monsters unlocks creature cards, which then provide you with an advantage over that specific creature. You also earn quest cards for completing the game's various quests.

Controls

• Your Xbox controller's directional pad or left thumbstick moves your character throughout the game. Press the "X" button to cast charm spells in general and the "Y" button to cast the Accio charm, which pulls beans and other items toward you. The "A" button casts all jinx spells. Press the "B" button to activate Magicus Extremos. The right trigger accelerates your character during Triwizard events.
